About the Author

Mary Batch

Mary Batch is a Certified Biblical Counselor, Christian author, and founder of Magnificat Soul Care — a ministry devoted to helping believers rediscover who they are in Christ, even in the hardest places. Her calling was shaped through her own journey of childhood trauma and abuse, decades of emotional hardship, and a life‑altering medical crisis. These wilderness seasons became the ground where Christ met her with healing, identity, and restoration, ultimately leading her into counseling ministry and the writing of the Healing in the Wilderness series.

Mary’s writing grows out of lived experience — not theory. As a young child, she endured trauma that left deep emotional and spiritual wounds, followed by years of instability, fear, and survival. In adulthood, she navigated a 30‑year season marked by emotional neglect and profound loneliness. Later, sudden heart failure and open‑heart surgery forced her into yet another wilderness, one that exposed her deepest questions about identity, belonging, and the presence of God in suffering. Through each chapter of her story, she encountered Christ’s steady, tender work of healing, and it is from this redeemed place that she now writes and counsels.

Mary serves in the counseling ministry at GracePoint Church in Portland, Texas, and her calling is shaped deeply by Psalm 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” She is a Certified Biblical Counselor through the Association of Biblical Counselors and devotes her ministry to walking alongside the weary, the wounded, and the searching — offering Scripture‑anchored guidance for those navigating trauma, grief, fear, identity confusion, and seasons of deep uncertainty. Before transitioning into full‑time ministry, Mary spent decades serving communities across Texas through workforce development initiatives, designing programs that strengthened individuals, families, and local economies. This work shaped her understanding of human resilience, community needs, and the importance of restoring dignity and purpose — themes that now appear throughout her writing and counseling. Through Magnificat Soul Care, Mary creates biblical counseling resources, devotionals, and spiritual formation tools that support emotional healing and deepen faith. Her Healing in the Wilderness series speaks to the fragile places of identity, suffering, and spiritual formation, offering hope, clarity, and practical encouragement for those walking through their own wilderness seasons. Her message is simple and deeply rooted in her testimony: Christ meets His people in the wilderness, and identity in Him remains secure — even when life feels fragile. Real Faith. Real Life. Real You. This is the heart of her ministry and the message behind every book she writes.
