Just What “I Feel”

Sentences that begin with “I feel that…” are not based on anything other that that pronoun “I” This is basic english grammar that we can all agree on.

In the “religious” community these same sentences occur. Typically in what are known as “religious controversies” In the early church issues arose that caused such controversy and division. Paul wrote to these churches emphasizing the importance to not cause division in the church, but to keep unity and the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4) While culture has changed since the early church, God does not change. The church that Christ died for was intended to be the same then, now, and forever. God is consistent and his ways are not our ways.

“God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.” -1 Corinthians 14:33

Sentences that begin with “God feels that…” are not based on anything other than that noun “God” This is also basic english grammar that we can all agree on.

In the bible we read the contrasts between what “God feels” and what “Mankind feels”      It is not shocking that mankind continuously falls short of what is right in the eyes of God. From the very beginning mankind was lead to self sabotage by sin. This broke the bond of unity between God and man. Jesus has made unity between God and man possible and prayed for this unity. When we are divided it breaks the heart of Jesus. Jesus died so that we could all be unified as one body of believers.

“I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” -John 17:20-23

God is brilliant and he is our very creator. He is all powerful, so who are we to say that our thoughts and feelings are better than God’s.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” -Isaiah 55:8-9

God created us with the free will to choose to love him and keep his commandments or to choose our own selfish ambitions.

It is truly amazing how God created us and instructed us from the beginning. God always knows best and he has designed everything in a particular way. There is an order, a role, and a specific purpose for all that God created. When we do things God’s way we find unity and peace.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself…” -Matthew 22:37-39

Does what we feel really matter in comparison to how God feels. We are only human. We are the created, not the creator. Let us reevaluate what we believe in and why we believe it. Let’s go back to what the very words of God say about each matter. Let’s read through the lens of God, not the lens of self. God always knows best.

May God bless you richly.
